Singapura.

GEORGE TOWN (Feb 26, 2008): Penang DAP today launched its manifesto which promises to champion for the multi-racial community and ensuring no community is displaced from development.
The eight-point manifesto, titled "A Dynamic Penang", was unveiled by state party chairman and incumbent Tanjong MP Chow Kon Yeow in a hotel on Jalan Macalister.
When pointed out that the DAP manifesto unveiled by party secretary-general Lim Guan Eng on Monday also contained eight key points, Lim, who was present said: "It's not a number's game, as you suggest. It's mere coincidence."
Chow said: "We are adamant about denying Umno's political dominance in Penang. We forsee this will come about with the next delineation exercise of the constituencies in 2010.
"Umno will demand additional state seats to facilitate its ambition to wrest the Chief Ministership by 2013. That is why Penangites are in a political crossroads and must vote wisely to deny them the two-thirds majority."
The manifesto's other key points are:

> creating a dynamic economy by attracting investments that offer high-paying jobs and an NEP (New Economic Policy)-free government administration among others;

> to improve social and environment conditions like more affordable housing, enhancing social justice and eradicating gender, race, religion and disabled discrimination, reducing crime and enhancing public safety and overcoming environment pollution;

> creating thinking and global Malaysians through the revamp of the education system at all levels;

> restoring local government elections as provided for under Article 113(4) of the Federal Constitution;

> to uphold respect for the rule of law and basic human rights which include the prohibition of illegal demolition of houses of worship, freedom to enjoy rights for freedom of religion, speech and the enactment of a Freedom of Information act, among others;

> solving traffic and public transport woes; and

>  providing a stronger opposition to have better institutional check and balance systems in the judiciary, Anti Corruption Agency and the police.

Giving an example of abuse of powers, Lim said the Penang Global City Centre (PGCC) project was approved despite it not being in the Penang Draft Structure Plan 2005-2010 and amid protests by affected residents.
