Bukti DAP mahu membunuh orang Melayu!

  • Sabtu, 17 Mac 2012

SOS – Great health risk put under wraps by Guan Eng

Penangites better be warned that great health risk is lurking at your doorsteps. A massive RM2.2bil solar panel manufacturing plant had been given the go ahead by the State government.

And this was despite that a plant with similar manufacturing operations in China was forced to close down not too long ago because of health risks.

The reason – effluent from a large solar cell manufacturer in Zhejiang Province had wiped out a local fishing industry. It is a known fact that the manufacturing of Photovoltaics would pollute the environment and affect human health.

A similar threat is now looming over the Province Wellesley people in Penang where a similar plant is being built in Batu Kawan. Their fate is now in the hands of the Penang government to stop the setting up of the plant.

Although Robert Bosch GmbH claims it is delaying construction of the plant, its president for South East Asia Martin Hayes had said that the company remained committed in the construction of the plant in Penang.

However there are contradictions here. InvestPenang general manager Loo Lee Lian had said that the state government would do its best to expedite the solar panel project.

She also said that Robert Bosch had started to make payments to fulfill the terms and conditions of the sale of the 80-acre site for the plant in Batu Kawan.

Construction of the plant was scheduled to start end of last year with production process to begin end of 2013.

Batu Kawan project: Safe for low-cost houses?

KUALA LUMPUR: A Penang Gerakan leader questions where is the DAP-led State Government's sense of responsibility when it wants to build low-cost houses in the vicinity where the approved solar panel plant will be located.
Speaking to The Mole Datuk Dr Teng Hock Nan said given the fact that the project's impact towards humans and environment has been raised as a matter of dire concern there is a need to reconsider to allow the solar photovoltaic (PV) industry going.
"There is a lot of worry the project will affect the livelihood of nearby residents and commercial activities in the area.
“My concern is what will happen to the surrounding area if the project proceed? Is there any guarantee it will be 100 per cent safe?” he asked.
Dr Teng also raised other concerns: "If something bad were to happen, how will the state government protect the low-cost house owners? Are they going to be relocated?”
Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng has been reported to have said that Batu Kawan low-cost house project will comprise the construction of 12,000 units on a 200-acre area to be completed over a 10-year period.
Barisan Nasional lawmaker Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan on Wednesday demanded Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng to explain about the project as a similar project in China was declared an environmental disaster.
A blog post in Stop The Lies pointed that the solar PV plant which Germany's company Robert Bosch GmbH plans to build in Batu Kawan, will be similar to a plant in Zhejiang province in China that was forced to close down due to health risks it posed to the local population.
Dr Teng added: “I appeal to the state government to reconsider their approval (for the project). Although we want more investments and projects in Penang, we should not risk the lives of our people and the environment.”
Penang state executive councillor Phee Boon Poh responding to the criticisms, dared Dr Teng and Abdul Rahman to give evidence on allegations that the project is hazardous.
“We are prepared to discuss with them regarding the safety of this project,” the Environment, Health and Caring Society Welfare exco said.
“I just want to know whether these people know what actually happened to the plant in China which led to its closure?” Phee added.
Reiterating his stand that the project had been vetted thoroughly by relevant authorities, Phee said a project cannot simply be cancelled just because of the failure of another similar project.
When pointed out that the DAP and its partners in Pakatan Rakyat had opposed to the Lynas rare earth refinery plant project despite being approved by the same authorities that approved the Batu Kawan project, Phee said: “Nuclear plants in Germany and Fukushima (in Japan) were closed due to proven danger risks. It is only logical for us to be cautious and not allow it to happen here.”
On the other hand, Phee insisted that the project in Batu Kawan is different because the Penang Government will not compromise on its safety.
In a news report on Thursday, Invest Penang committee chairman Datuk Lee Kah Choon said the state has always ensured its directions in promoting the solar PV industry is consistent with that of the Federal policies - The Mole.com.my
